Early skater learning aids are available free of charge at public skating and indoor skating events. Recommended for children ages two and up, skate trainers support the child, encouraging instant success on the ice and improving balance and control while fostering proper skating posture. Please note:

  • ID is required to secure early skater learning aids
  • Parent or guardian supervision is required.
  • A helmet with a cage is recommended for the child. Helmets are also available to borrow at the sign-in table.

To create a safe ‘Learn to Skate’ area, an ice bumper, pictured right, will be in place for all public skate times.

Everyone should be able to enjoy the feeling of gliding on the ice in our arenas. We have purchased two Specialty Assistive Sleds to allow those who are unable to skate to safely enjoy the ice with an adult friend and/or guardian. Each Specialty Assistive Sled comes with:

  • Custom high back with wrap around sides and chest strap
  • Adjustable Headrest
  • Adjustable leg support
  • Telescoping Nose
  • Push Handle

This device can be booked free of charge in one and a half hour blocks during any of our Public Skate events. Please refer to the Public Skating calendar for available dates and times. Simply call 905-735-1700 x4000 to book. The person booking must be 18 years of age or older and provide the name of the person(s) who they will be assisting in using the sled. Those booking the assistive sled must be able to safely place and remove the person they are pushing in the sled. The person booking must confirm that they will be with the device and the person they are assisting at all times.
